Overview
Orienteering Cincinnati will host 3 races over 3 days. Races will have courses for all ages and abilities and will be open to anyone.The
events will take place in Boone and Campbell Counties of Northern Kentucky, just south of Cincinnati. The events will also
be the Ohio Valley School Orienteering Championships (OVSOC)
The Races
All races are National Sanctioned by Orienteering USA. All races will have all normal categories
for people of all ages.Go to Race Details for more information about each race.

Ohio Valley School Orienteering Championships (OVSOC) eligibility:
The OVSOC Championships on Saturday is open to any student in grades 12 or under who is attending school (or home school)
in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, or Tennessee. Students from other states are welcome to participate, but
will not be eligible for OVSOC awards. All students will run as individuals. School teams will consist of 3-5 individuals
running at the same level (HS Varsity, HS JV, Intermediate School, School).Primary school course (white) is open to
students in grade 6 and under. Intermediate course (yellow) is open to students in grade 9 and under. Junior Varsity
course (orange) and Varsity course (brown for female, green for male) are open to students in grade 12 and under. Read
this page first. The links below are intended for your convenience AFTER you are familiar with the overall event information.
Courses and Classes
Competitive - All standard OUSA competitive courses and classes will be offered, including special interscholastic
categories on Saturday. Competitive entrants should pre-register.
Recreational - Recreational Courses will be offered at all events. $10 per individual for each event. Recreational participants
may enter day-of-event. White/yellow/orange courses only more advanced
courses are open to event volunteers with permission of event director only.
Awards
Flying Pig medals will be given to the first three individual finishers in all classes based on best 2 out of 3 races. OVSOC
individual and team awards will be given based on Saturday interscholastic courses.
Embargo Information
See (locator maps)The following areas may not be used for orienteering or orienteering training prior to these events:
Waller-Stephenson Mill Park including Walton-Verona School District sports complex.
Camp Ernst YMCA Camp and Gunpowder Creek Nature Park
A J Jolly Park – including campground and athletic complex. All park roads are off-limits. However it is
permissible to use the golf course parking lot and play the golf course if open.
Practice / Training
Training maps of Big Bone Lick State Park (20 control permanent course), England-Idlewild, and Middle Creek
may be ordered with registration. These maps are all in Boone County of Northern Kentucky, close to the OINK event sites.
Safety
All competitors must carry a whistle and dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Orienteering
USA keychain whistles may be purchased with registration for $2.
Child Sitting
We will accommodate parents with split start times if requested. Please let us know as early as possible if you
have children who will need tending during the events, and we will try to help you work out an appropriate arrangement.

YMCA Camp Ernst requires a separate waiver form. Please print this form, sign it, and bring it with you
to the event (or mail it to the registrar). Please note that a parent/guardian must sign for junior
orienteers, so please do this in advance. Checks payable to OCIN.

** TROL members must enter on or before Nov. 18. The Ohio Valley School O Champs on Saturday is a TROL season meet
and is free for 2017-2018 TROL season pass holders. Taking the TROL member discount will reduce your entry fee
to $5 per race if you enter on or before Nov. 18, or $15 per race if you enter on or after Nov. 19.
Late fee
$10 per race late fee for any adult competitive entry received on or after Nov. 18. ($25 for all 3 events). $5 per race late fee
for any junior competitive entry received on or after Nov. 18.($10 for all 3 events).
Reminder that anything sent by mail MUST arrive by Friday, Nov. 17.
Recreational Courses
Recreational Courses will be offered at all events. $10 per individual for each event. Recreational participants
may enter day-of-event. (Recreational entrants are not eligible for awards or OUSA ranking points)
Sport Ident e-card rental
$2 per race. Must sign agreement to pay $45 for lost or damaged card. All entrants
must use a SportIdent card. All cards except flat cards and Air+ should work.
Preview Maps
These are all newly mapped areas. No previous orienteering maps are available for the competition areas.
Training Maps
Big Bone Lick (permanent course), Middle Creek, England Idlewild each or all 3 for $12
Whistles
Orienteering USA keychain whistles with red LED light, $2
Saturday Chili Lunch
Saturday, The Orienteering USA Junior Team will be providing chili, (both meat and vegetarian options will be available) available for
purchase on site. Price will be $5 per bowl. Please indicate when registering if you are interested
so that we have an idea of expected demand; limited quantities will be available.
Refunds
Full refund on or before Nov. 25, less the fees for any training maps, or other materials
already sent. No refunds after Nov. 25, unless exception is granted by the Event Director.
Joel Rauschenbach Memorial Junior Fund
The Joel Rauschenbach Memorial Junior Fund provides grants to help develop youth orienteering in the Greater Cincinnati
area and to assist area youth in traveling to national and international competitions. As you register for these
events, you will have the opportunity to make a voluntary contribution to this fund if desired. Your donations help young orienteers.
