The day dawned chilly, but warmed to
pleasant temperatures with hazy sunshine becoming brighter toward
afternoon. We had a larger than normal
number of families and kids show up for the egg orienteering, perhaps due to a
mention in the Journal News, as well as the MetroParks
website.
Trails were wet and muddy in places, and
emerging honeysuckle greatly reduced the visibility for more advanced
orienteers. There were plenty of
plastic eggs at the white course controls and we didn’t
run out of candy and toys for the finishers!
The control in the hollow tree was a special hit, and after finishing,
many kids and parents headed to the playground for more fun.

Notes:
White course: Most of the “mis-punches”
found all of the eggs; they simply skipped using the
electronic SportIdent on one or more controls.
“Voided legs” on orange, green, and red
courses were for the crossings of New London Rd.
