The day was cold, starting around 20F, but gradually warming to
around 40, with light breezes adding to the chill, but plentiful sunshine. It was a good day to be out moving around;
more challenging for those who had to stand or sit while working the start and
results computers. There was no
significant morning frost; a blessing for those earlier starters who were first
to shortcut across the many overgrown meadows and prairies. Courses were challenging, perhaps a bit much
for some of the less experienced NJROTC runners, attested to by the 50%
did-not-finish rate on the Junior Varsity Female course (and 40% on JV Male). But there were some fine showings by better
navigators, young and old.
