Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge.
OCIN Events are held rain, shine or snow.     In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

Orienteering Skills Workshop     for Female participants only.
    Would you like to be more comfortable in the outdoors and improve your wilderness navigation skills? OCIN and REI partner to present instruction and activity in orienteering. This will be a 3 hour program including skills instruction and orienteering courses. Instructors: Stephanie Ross and Tracy Burge. Location to be announced. Class size limited to 25, pre-registration will be required. Times 9 am to Noon. If interest is high, a second session may be offered from 1 to 4.

    Camp Butterworth is located at 8551 Butterworth Rd, Maineville, OH 45039. Locator Map coming soon Directions: Take I-71 to Exit 24. Go east on Western Row Rd (several sharp turns). In 1.3 miles, turn left on Socialville-Foster Rd. In 1 mile, turn left on Old 3C Highway. In 0.1 mile, turn right to stay on Old 3C. In another 0.1 mile, turn right again on Foster-Maineville Rd. In 0.3 mile, turn right on Butterworth Rd. The camp entrance is about 0.5 mile on the right. From the main parking lot, wlak past the pool (look for "orienteering" signs) to the Berry Patch Shelter.

Sun, May 7     Tawawa Park, Sidney, Ohio
    OCIN event on a New Map in Sidney, Ohio. Event Director Joe Ratermann.
    This should be a fast, fun event for all. The park runs along the Great Miami River, and is relatively flat, but with a few low hills. There is a dense network of paths, roads, picnic areas, and open areas, mixed with small patches of woods.
    Courses: Short (3.0 km) and Long (5.0 km) courses, registration and starts from Noon to 2 pm. Score course covering the entire park has registration from 11 to Noon and a mass start at noon. (You can still go out later if you can't make it for the mass start).
    Locator Map coming soon. Directions: Take I-75 to Exit 92. Go east on Ohio 47 for 1.5 miles and turn left on Main St. In 0.2 miles, take second right on North St. In 0.3 miles, continue ahead onto Riverside Dr, then immediately right on Tawawa Dr. In 0.3 miles look for parking lots on the left.

Wed May 10, 17, and 24     introductory orienteering workshops, South Bend, Indiana
    program intended mainly for home school students and public school students in home study programs. May 10 at Madeline Bertrand County Park, May 17 at Ferrettie Baugo County Park (new map), May 24 at St Patrick's County Park.
    May 24 will also include a World Orienteering Day event. Directors: Thurston and Bonnie Miller. Contact Thurston to volunteer to assist.

    Vice-President, Treasurer, and Board Member at Large positions are up for election to 2 year terms. Incumbents Pat Meehan, Steve Vaughan, and Ben Hart have all indicated willingness to run for re-election.

August 3-6     U.S. ARDF Championships, Cincinnati
    OCIN and the OH-KY-IN Amateur Radio Club will host the national ARDF (Amateur Radio Direction Finding) Championships. Four days of competitive events will be preceeded by several days of training / practice events during the week before.
