Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement.
Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge.
OCIN Events are held rain, shine or snow.     In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

Wed, May 24     introductory orienteering workshops, South Bend, Indiana
    program intended mainly for home school students and public school students in home study programs. St Patrick's County Park. Starts Noon to 1 pm.
    May 24 will also include a World Orienteering Day event. Directors: Thurston and Bonnie Miller. Contact Thurston to volunteer to assist.

Sat June 3     Mitchell Memorial Forest, Cincinnati, Ohio
    OCIN event at Great Parks Foundation Adventure Fest at Mitchell Memorial Forest, courses white through green or red. Starts are open from Noon to 3 pm. Helpers will be needed for beginner instruction and starts. Please contact Mike Minium if you can help. Event fees: $7 for OCIN members, $10 for non-members. $2 discount if you have your own SI timing card. Free for TROL Season Pass holders.
    Great parks of Hamilton County motor vehicle permit is required and may be purchased at the park entrance. Vehicle permit fees are $3 daily for Hamilton County Residents, $5 for non-residents. Annual passes are $10 for residents and $14 for non-residents.

    Date changed from June 17. new map at Cincinnati Country Day School. Sprint style courses. Directors: Matthew Robbins. Course Setter Matthew Robbins. Starts open Noon to 2 pm, free beginner instruction session at 11 am. Event fees: $7 for members of OCIN and other orienteering clubs, also for Cincinnati Country Day students and staff. $10 for non-members. Price includes use of SportIdent chip timing system; $2 discount if you have your own chip.

    The World Orienteering Championships is open to National Teams Only, but there will be a week of public spectator races open to all. Registration for Estonian Orienteering Week opens on Dec 1, 2016. http://www.woc2017.ee/

July 9-16, 2017   Junior World Orienteering Championships, Finland

Sat July 15     Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, Hamilton, Ohio
    Score style course with a mass start at 1 pm, and 90 minute time limit. Later starters will be permitted but we'd like everyyone off the course by 3 pm. From 3 pm to 6 pm, a shorter course will be available. Also, from 3 pm to 9 pm, join us for Blues, Brews, and BBQ at Pyramid Hill. Live bands will be performing from 3 pm until 9 pm; there will be booths to purchase craft beer and food. Special admission fee of $15 includes the orienteering event, and admission to Pyramid Hill for the Blues, Brews, and BBQ Festival. Food and drink is purchased separately. Director: Mike Minium
    Locator Map. Enter park off Ohio 128 between Ross and Hamilton, Ohio. From I-275, take exit 33 and take US 27 north to Ross. Exit to the right and take OH 128 north toward Hamilton, to Pyramid Hill on the left.

July 22 - 28 2017   O-Ringen, Varmland, Sweden
    week long series of events, world's largest orienteering festival draws about 15,000 participants.

July 30 - Aug 5 2017   Scottish 6 Days, Deeside, Scotland
    6 days of orienteering races in varied terrain, typically has around 4000 competitors.

August 3-6     U.S. ARDF Championships, Cincinnati
    OCIN and the OH-KY-IN Amateur Radio Club will host the national ARDF (Amateur Radio Direction Finding) Championships. Four days of competitive events will be preceeded by several days of training / practice events during the week before.

    Letchworth Falls Classic - 2 day national meet at Letchworth State Park, south of Rochester, New York. Organized by Rochester Orienteering Club (ROC).

Sat, Sept 23, 2017     Miami University Natural Areas, Oxford, OH
    Full range of courses from white to red. Miami's annual "Hike-a-thon Plus" offers a variety of activities besides orienteering, including hikes, guided bird walks, tour of Pioneer cabin, naturalist with birds of prey and possibly other critters, and more! In the past there have been food samples from Moon Co-op, free native trees and plants from Butler County Soil and Water Consevration District, and more.

    Camp Butterworth. This will include a regular OCIN meet on Saturday, with courses from white to red.

Jan 12-15, 2018    Georgia Navigator Cup, Augusta, Georgia
    3 days of National meets, then the Georgia "Extreme-O" on Monday. Organized by Georigia Orienteering (GAOC) Friday middle distance race at Hard Labor Creek State Park. Saturday and Sunday will be a two-day classic event at Mistletoe State Park. Monday Extreme-O will also be at Mistletoe. The Extreme-O is based on a NATO military competition and requires navigation on a variety of types of maps and aerial photos, and includes various challenges, typically including a rope bridge over water and some form of boat or raft water crossing.
   

March 23 and/or 24, 2018     OCIN Easter Egg Orienteering
    in coperation with MetroParks of Butler County. Kids Easter Egg course will be a short, easy "white" level course; kids can collect plastic Easter eggs which can be exchanged for candy or a toy when they finish. More challenging courses will be available for older children and adults.
