March 5-7, 2010     St Louis A Event, Missouri

March 13, 2010     MVOC Junior Champs, Woodland Trails, Camden OH
    Woodland Trails BSA Camp, Junior O' Event (school groups only) will start from 8 AM to 10 AM. MVOC "Shamrock Hunt" open to all starts from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This will be TROL regular season event #12 for the 2009-2010 season.

    This is a Boy Scout Camp, no pets please.
    Directions: From I-70, exit #10 take US 127 south thru Eaton. Before reaching Camden, turn right on Gasper-Somers Rd, and right again into camp. From I-75, take OH 725 west to Camden. Turn right on US 127 north for 3 miles, then left on Gasper-Somers Rd to camp entrance on right. locator map for Woodland Trails


March 20, 2010     Hueston Woods, Oxford, OH.
    This will be the TROL season final event for the 2009-10 season.
    Courses: white thru red. Start/finish will be near the Lodge. More details coming soon. Event Director: David Waller.
    Fees: $7 for Orienteering Cincinnati members, $10 for non-members. $2 discount if you have your own SportIdent electronic punch card.
    Directions: From Oxford, Ohio, take OH 732 north about 5 miles and turn left at Hueston Woods park entrance. In 1 mile, bear right on Main Loop Rd. In another 2 miles, make a left to the Lodge. Watch for orange and white "orienteering" signs.

Mar 20, 2010     Yellowood State Forest, Nashville, IN
    "Conquer the Crossroads" Rogaine. Teams only, no solos. Check the ICO website for updated information.
    Fee: $25 per participant, Registration opens - 7:30 am; 12 hour course start - 9 am; 6 hour course start - 11 am

Mar 21, 2010     Raccoongaine, west of Pittsburgh, PA
   3 hour and 6 hour foot race "mini" rogaine. Discount for pre-registration by March 11. Solos and teams of 2 to 5 permitted.
   Event start at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2010. Check-in opens at 8:30 AM. Maps will be distributed at 9:00 AM. There is a mandatory meeting at 9:45 AM. at the start location for all participants.

March 27, 2010     German Ridge, southern Indiana
    Red, Green, Brown, Orange, Yellow, and Sprint courses. Additional details soon. Meet Directors are Burr Paul and Arnie Franklin.

    There is no potable water at German Ridge; however, meet directors usually bring extra water in large containers for your use. Restroom facilities are available at the start/finish area and at the campground.
    Directions: From Louisville, KY, take I-64 west to Indiana Hwy 37. Take 37 south to Hwy 70. Go east on 70 to Hwy 66. Follow 66 south and then west. Turn right onto CR-3 (German Ridge road). After 1 mile, the entrance to German Ridge will be on your left. Follow the signs to the site.

Sunday, March 28, 2010     Easter Egg Orienteering, Hamilton, Ohio
    In cooperation with Metroparks of Butler County. Starts 11 am - 2 pm. Director: Mike Minium
    Easter Egg Course for kids and families. Use the map to locate treasure! You will get a very detailed color map of Governor Bebb Park. At each point marked on the map, you will find a basket of plastic Easter eggs. The eggs at any one location are all the same size and color. Collect one egg from each location. When you return to the finish, you will have a colorful collection of plastic eggs. Exchange the plastic eggs for a candy treat or toy. All points will be on or near existing trails, but finding them all may require traveling steep sections of trail and crossing park roads. All ages are welcome! Parents should accompany younger children, but those who are mature enough to safely cross the park roads may do the course by themselves if desired. You may start the course any time during the times listed (11 - 2 Sunday).
    There will also be more challenging orienteering courses available for teens and adults looking for more adventure.
    Fees: $7 for Orienteering Cincinnati members, $10 for non-members. The fee covers up to 4 family members doing the course as a group. This includes a highly detailed color map of the park. You can complete the course without a compass, but we will have rental compasses available for $1 for the day if you would like to try one. We encourage every group, especially children orienteering alone, to carry a safety whistle for emergency use; whistles may be purchased for $1.
    Directions: From I-275, exit 33 take US 27 north to Ross. Take the Ross exit and turn left on OH 128 south / 126 west. In about 1 mile, in the town of Ross, turn right on OH 126 west. Stay on 126 about 10 miles to left turn on Bebb Park Rd. Go about 1 mile into park and follow orange and white "orienteering" signs. locator map for Governor Bebb

April 9-11, 2010     Flying Pig XIV, Batavia, Ohio
    USOF sanctioned "A" meet. 2010 US Interscholastic Championships. East Fork State Park. This year the Flying Pig will also serve as the US Interscholastic Championships, the largest youth orienteering competition in North America. Friday's races will serve as a model event. The Championships will be determined by the results of the Saturday and Sunday races. All 3 races are USOF "A" sanctioned.
    Effective immediately, all portions of East Fork State Park are embargoed for orienteering training and events. You may not enter this area for purposes of training or gathering information about the terrain if you plan to compete in the 2010 Interscholastics.
    Friday will be a Middle Distance "A" meet with starts from 2 pm to 5 pm. There will also be a practice / training area open all day Friday. In addition to the Interscholastic Championships on Saturday and Sunday, we are planning lots of fun junior activities over the weekend including major league baseball game (Cincinnati Reds vs Chicago Cubs) on Friday evening ($12), outdoor games at event site on Saturday, and Laser-Tag on Saturday evening ($10).
