Site updates since Nov. 16: Nov.
16 – For the Relay on Saturday, white course will use a 1:5000 map
(junior-junior relay). Yellow course
will use a 1:7500 map.
All courses cross and loop, especially in the spectator area before the
finish. Be very careful not to miss a
control. Nov.
18 – Practice / Model area will be Sharon Woods which is very close to
the event headquarters hotel; within a two kilometer jog. This is also an area mapped by Vladimir Zherdev. A Hamilton
County Parks motor vehicle permit must be purchased to park inside this park
(but not for any of the regular event sites this weekend). Practice maps should be available at the
headquarters hotel beginning Wednesday
morning. There may not be any actual
controls put out in Sharon Woods. Ask at
the desk for “orienteering practice map”. Nov.
27 – Practice / Model Area note:
The loop road in the model area is being used for “Holiday in
Lights” display. Be very careful
of lights and displays along and near the road.
There are low stings of lights about 1 foot (0,3m) off the ground on
both sides of the road, and many larger displays, some of which have long thin
guy wires stretched out to the side.
These are very hard to see in the day.
Come back at night and drive through the light display for $12 per
car. The park closes at dark other than
the lights display; definitely no night orienteering in the practice area! The practice area controls also do not have
reflectors. There will be sample night-O
controls near the start on Friday night. Nov.
27 – Weather forecast as of 11 pm on 11/27 has highs in low to mid
50’s(10 - 12 C) and lows in upper 30’s (2 – 4 C) for the
whole weekend, partly to mostly cloudy, with a 50% possibility of rain showers on Sunday. Nov.

until 3 pm. Overview Orienteering Cincinnati will host 3
races over 3 days in parks Cincinnati, Ohio and Clermont County to the east of
Cincinnati, conveniently located within minutes of Greater Cincinnati
