Maps
FREE download only: Big Bone Lick State Park
(with permanent course), 3380 Beaver Rd, Union KY, 41091.
Big Bone Lick was mapped
by the same mapper as Morehead State and Carter Caves (Vladimir Zherdev), but is roughly 2 hours
drive from these sites (close to Cincinnati airport).
Other permanent and Usynligo (phone app) maps in the Greater Cincinnati area
are available on the OCIN ParkQuest page.
Most of these map files have not been updated since they were first
posted in very early COVID days (March to May of 2020).
Shirts Flying Pig shirts will be available through
pre-registration. Black short-sleeve
cotton shirts designed by Dave Waller must be ordered by the February 28
regular registration deadline in order to guarantee size. Update: A very
limited number of select sizes may still be available. $21 per shirt for youth and adult thru
XXL. $23 for 3XL and above. (Event volunteers get a $6 discount) See the shirt
design (jpg).
Cave Tours We will be offering cave tours at Carter
Caves on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
X Cave Tour - X Cave is comprised of two narrow, vertical
joint-passageways. These passageways differ, so that it seems as if you are
walking through two separate geologic creations rather than a singular cave. While
inside visitors will learn of the cave’s geologic formations, cave ecology, and
some local history. The tour is about 45
minutes. Temperature in the cave in
winter / early spring can be 30 to 60 degrees F (-1 to +15C); dress for the
outdoor weather conditions. Cave tours
are $10 for adults age 13+, $7 for children age 3-12, free for children
0-2. Tours are limited to 35
participants per tour. Update: Both tours are sold out. Please contact the registrar Guy Olsen
(flyingpigregistrar@gmail.com) to get on
a wait list. If there is enough
additional interest, we will try to add another Saturday afternoon tour time.
Banquet Buffet Dinners Friday evening and Saturday evening. Location: Carter Caves State Park Lodge. $30 for adults age 21+, $25 for juniors age
13-20, $15 for age 6-12. (Event
volunteers get a discounted price of $20)
Both banquet dinners include tossed garden
salad with 3 dressings, hot rolls, cornbread and butter, iced tea, soft drinks,
and coffee.
Friday Dinner: 7:30 pm.
Menu: hot buffet entrees: lemon
baked fish and homestyle meatloaf; sides: scalloped potatoes, broccoli spears,
honey glazed carrots; desserts: apple cobbler, chocolate cake
Guest Speaker: Steve Newman, Worldwalker.
The first person to hike solo around the world from 1983 to 1987, and
author of Worldwalk, Letters From Steven, and Guardians of Yellowstone, Steve
tells an exciting tale of his globe-circling adventures.
Saturday Dinner: 6:30 pm.
Menu: hot buffet entrees: roast
turkey and dressing, vegetarian lasagna; sides: roasted new potatoes,
California vegetable blend, fried apples; desserts: cherry cobbler, banana
pudding
We will present the awards from
the Friday and Saturday races.
Dinners
MUST be ordered by the Feb 28 regular registration deadline. Update: we are still
able to add a few dinners – as long as they show up as
an option on registration, you may order them.
Whistles
All competitors must
carry a whistle. Orienteering USA
keychain whistles with red LED light, $2 or flat red OCIN whistle, $1.
Refunds

sent. No refunds after Mar. 14, unless
exception is granted by the Event Director.

infectious disease, you may request a refund of entry fees.
