This was the third and final event sponsored by the Badin ROKS for this school season. The boys and girls did a fine job of designing and setting courses, administering the meets, and behaving themselves to boot. (At least in theory)
The Badin crew consisted of:
Mike Benge Christina Fohl David Frederick Mark Hagen Kyle Kollstedt Brennan Lawall Jen Meehan Joe MoranThe courses proved to be challenging enough. This was evident in the extended times posted by the finest of Orienteers throughout the region. Only a few were required to retire due to an inadequate amount of remaining time to complete the course. The competition was tight. The Tillers earning bragging rights over the Garlands by a mere, if not handsome margin of 17 seconds! (I do believe I saw them floating - or was that gloating - over the grass and back to their car.)
The day was splendid, if a little windy. The trails remained muddy from the rain all but forgotten from the day before. Eugine Granovskiy took a particular liking to the mud and took most of it back home with him. The foliage has emerged in force like a newborn; resounding, but not yet threatening. The temperature - was perfect.
What more could an adventuresome Orienteer ask?
My heart felt thanks go out to all of those who attended this event. Your enthusiasm and smiles make it all worthwhile.
