After several days of extremely hot and humid weather, a cool front moved through the area on Friday, and we had a great day for late summer orienteering.  Temperatures climbed into the 80's under sunny skies, but the humidity stayed reasonably low.  John Fredrickson (HVO) drove overnight from Boston to run the sprints before heading on to the Rocky Mountain 1000 Day next week.   Kathleen Weber, formerly of QOC and now a resident of Houston, Texas also joined us for the day, before heading on to visit family in Chicago.

* Tom's time was reinstated after he mispunched control #1.  Code 31 (Sprint 1, #1) and 51 (*Sprint 2, #11) were extremely close together, although on different features.  Note that on the map of John Fredrickson's winning route, that he checked out 51 on the way to 31.  John said he was pulled to it by seeing another runner going to it, even though he knew he hadn't gone far enough.  While John didn't punch it & only lost a few seconds, it illustrated the potential for confusion, especially since the codes (31 and 51) were so similar.
