Thanks
to Bob Frey and Matthew Robbins who helped with this event, also the two youngsters
who picked up all of the indoor controls!
It
was a cold and windy evening. Overall
attendance at the Lakota Pi Day activities appeared to be much lower than in recent past years, perhaps due to fears of the
COVID 19 virus, perhaps due to the two Lakota Summer Fair events the same week,
or perhaps just due to the unpleasant weather.
Most likely it was some combination of all of those factors.
Only
a few brave souls ventured out into the chilling winds to try the outdoor
courses, and nobody tried the most challenging 3.5 km Course 4. By best guess, about 50 people tried the
indoor courses, earning a free OUSA whistle if they successfully completed the
course. Quite a few others expressed
interest, took information, or signed up for the OCIN email newsletter.
