Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement. Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge. OCIN Events are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

Home School Orienteering Workshops, Cincinnati, Ohio
    These will be offered on Wed, April 28, Tues May 4, and Tues. May 11, in different area parks. In cooperation with Cincinnati Parks Explore Nature - This is an introductory program geared toward home school students and their families in which you'll learn the basics of orienteering and be able to explore the park on up to 3 different courses of beginner to intermediate difficulty. More details are here!
    Online Pre-registration is required. Home school students and families are welcome to attend any of these 3 workshop dates in different Cincinnati Parks, or come join us for all 3 of them! Children of all ages are welcome. When you register, you will select a 15 minute time slot between 10:45 am and 1:00 pm; to assure social distancing, each time slot will have a limited number of spaces. After a short introductory session, take your time to explore and try as many of the different courses as you wish.
    Pre-registration fees: For one workshop $10 for 1 child, $18 for 2 or more children; For 2 workshops: $18 for 1 child, $33 for 2 or more children; For all 3 workshops: $25 for one child, $45 for 2 or more children. Parent(s) may participate with their child(ren) at no extra charge.

June 5-6, 2021   Raccoongaine, Pennsylvania
    Rescheduled to June 5-6. 3 hour (Saturday) and 6 hour (Sunday) rogaines in southwest Pennsylvania, Raccoon Creek State Park. teams or solos permitted. Registration opens January 1; events have a registration limit and usually fill up with registration closing within 2 to 3 days.

June 5-6, 2021     COO Charles Alley Park, Lancaster, Ohio
    Central Ohio Orienteers (COO), Print your own map (link soon) and run at a time of your choosing during park open hours, from 11 am on Saturday until 3:00 pm on Sunday, when control removal will begin. COO website

June 6-11, 2021   Texas Junior Orienteering Camp, Bridgeport, Texas
    Week-long intensive orienteering training camp for young orienteers, age 13-18 who have completed at least one orange level course. This camp has an excellent mix of navigational training and activities, with a relaxed atmosphere and emphasis on fun. Younger juniors are welcome if they are currently competing at orange level. Air conditioned dormitiories, dining hall, and classroom.

June 6-11, 2021   GOAT (Georgia Advanced Orienteering Training) Camp, Georgia
    Week-long intensive orienteering training camp for young orienteers, age 13-18 who have completed at least one orange level course. This camp is also excellent orienteering training, but more emphasis on military structure and physical training; excellent for JROTC cadets. Rustic cabins with separate restroom facilities, no air conditioning.

Aug 2-15, 2021   California Orienteering Festival, USA
    North American Champs and World Rogaine Champs postponed to 2023. More info soon on Tahoe 2021 including US Orienteering Championships and North American Rogaine Championships. Two week long festival of orienteering events, beginning in the Bay Area and ending in the Sierras near the Nevada border. includes the North American Championships (Aug 6-9) and World Rogaining Championship (Aug 14-15).

Sat, Aug 28, 2021     Amazing Charity Race, Milford, Ohio
    Rescheduled from June 19 to August 28. OCIN will host one of the "Challenge" stations in the annual Amazing Charity Race. Volunteers will be needed to staff our challenge, but we can't reveal exactly what the challenge will involve. The Amazing Charity Race (from their website) is a fun, quirky, adventure that challenges the contestants agility, balance, coordination, strength, intelligence, problem solving skills, fine motor skills, and most importantly, their sense of humor.

    Tentative - OCIN will offer free "try it" orienteering courses, Courses of all levels from white thru red will be offered. Starts are open from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. Control pickup begins at 3 pm.
    Great Outdoors Weekend is a regional effort offering many different outdoor activities highlighting Greater Cincinnati Parks and Natural Areas. The Miami University Hike-a-thon Plus will offer many different free activities and exhibits including hikes, guided birdwatching walk, natural/organic food samples from Moon Coop, and much more.

    Tentative Halloween courses for all ages, "Trail of Treats" easy course for kids; children can select candy or a toy when finishing. Usually 2 dates in late October in 2 different Butler County MetroParks.

Sat, Nov 6, 2021     Twisted Run IV, Centennial Park, Plymouth, Indiana
    OCIN's South Bend chapter brings back the annual Twisted Run. Easy (white to yellow level difficulty) navigation (long 6.6 km and short 3.2 km versions) with a mass start. A few navigation decisions will give navigators the chance to outsmart the speedsters. Mass start at 11 am.
    This will be a fundraiser for the Orienteering USA Junior National Team, with all proceeds going to the national team.

Sat, Nov 13, 2021     Camp Butterworth, Maineville, Ohio
    Tentative Navy JROTC Area 3 Championships. The championships will be a closed event for HS Navy JROTC Area 3 cadets only. (Cadets from other areas and service branches may participate in the public event later in the day). Details to be announced, morning start times. Camp Butterworth is a private property and is embargoed to any orienteering training by Area 3 NJROTC cadets or coaches prior to this event.

Sat, Nov 27, 2021     TROL Training Day, Miami University Western Woods, Oxford, Ohio
    Tentative 8 am to 6 pm. All day training camp geared for youth, featuring an alternating schedule of indoor classroom training and outdoor navigation ion various short orienteering courses and activities throughout the day. Difficulty increases through the day; beginners may want to do a half day starting in the morning; experienced orienteers will benefit from the morning sessions as well.
    Normally this day includes lunch (sandwiches and snacks) and pizza dinner; for this year still tentative depending on COVID policies.

    (postponed from July, 2021). Orienteering USA will host the orienteering portion of the 2021 World Games. national teams only, contact Orienteering USA National Team Selection Committee for details.

October 2022   South American Orienteering Championships, Foz do Iguacu, Brazil
