Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement. Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge. OCIN Events are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

November, 2021 thru March, 2022     OCIN TROL and WARS Season Pass
   Register now for your 2021-2022 TROL / WARS season pass, which gived free entry to all league events from November 2021 thru March 2022.
    The season is now about half over, Season pass fees are discounted effective January 2. When you register, if you have an Orienteering USA account, the registration system will auto-fill your personal information; if not, select "enter data manually".

    Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, Course Planner: Laurie Sydzyik. Courses: white thru red. Starts are open from 11 to 2. Control pickup begins no later than 4 pm. Pre-register online by 9 pm Saturday. See who's registered.
    Park entry or vehicle permit fees:There is an additional per-person entry fee for Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park. You will be able to pre-pay Pyramid Hill entry fees with your pre-registration. All persons visiting Pyramid Hill, including non-orienteering parents and drivers should pay the entry fee.
    Caution: Be alert for cords and lights remaining from Journey Borealis, Pyramid Hill's annual holiday lights display. Most low level cords and lights have been removed, but there are still a few left that are low enough to run into or step on. Restroom facilities: portable toilet

Jan 30 thru Feb     OLOU Winter Sprint Series, Louisville, Kentucky
    Orienteering Louisville (OLOU). 2 short sprint-style courses at each event. See OLOU website for more details. The shorter course is always family and beginner-friendly. The second is more challenging.
    Sunday afternoon events (short sprint-style courses) in Louisville area parks. Jan 9, Jan 23, Jan 30, Feb 6, Feb 13, Feb 20, Feb 27. Starts are 2:00 to 3:15 with control pickup starting at 3:30.

    Directors: Jim Benton, Stephanie Ross, Ben Hart. Courses white thru red. Starts are open from 11 to 1. Control pickup begins no later than 3 pm. Pre-register online by 9 pm Friday. See who's registered.
    Map is on private property. Use the church name and address for GPS; google won't find the correct Twelve Mile. Please plan to be out of the church parking lot by 4 pm; there is a Mass at 5 pm. There may be some construction on the church driveway and parking lot. Indoor restrooms will be available. Parking is free.

    Address: 4200 N University Blvd, Middletown, OH, 45042. Locator map. Event Center will be at Verity Lodge. Indoor restrooms will be available. Please do not wear spiked or muddy shoes inside. We are responsible for cleaning up any snow and mud that we drag in.

    Thanks to the new property owners, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for allowing us continued access to this map. Per their policies, no alcohol, tobacco, or vaping devices may be brought onto the property. Except for "service animals" required for use by a person with a disability, no other animals may be on camp premises at any time.

March 12-13, 2022   Possum Trot, Missouri
    The Possum Trot is an annual GOAT style course (long, usually rugged, with a couple unique twists, usually involving being able to choose one or mroe controls to skip). See the Event information and Pre-register. Register by March 9.
   

March 19-20, 2022   Big Woods National Ranking Event, Pennsylvania
    National Ranking Event, full range of courses each day. Event information and registration. Fees increase on Feb 6 and again on Feb 27, entry deadline is March 12.

April 1-3, 2022     OCIN Flying Pig XXIV, 2022 OUSA Junior Nationals
    National championship events. A very preliminary information page is now available. More details and pre-registration will be coming soon.
    East Fork State Park, east side of Cincinnati, Ohio. Friday will be on the north side (OH 32 at Half Acre Rd exit); Saturday and sunday will be on the south side (OH 125 at Bantam Rd).

April 6-10, 2022   US ARDF Championships, North Carolina
    US Amateur Radio Directon Finding Championship

        starts from 11 am until 1 pm. Full range of courses for all ages. This event will include a special egg hunt course for kids. Following an easy map, kids will find several checkpoints. When finishing, they will have a choice of candy or toy from our treasure chest. Egg hunt course is $4 per child. Due to COVID, we won't have eggs to collect this year; kids will use a timing chip to record their visit to each checkpoint.
    MetroParks of Butler County Motor Vehicle Permit is required and will be available on site. Butler County residents may get a 2021-2022 permit free with proof of residency. Non-residents may buy a 2022 annual for $15 or a daily for $8. We use MetroParks of Butler County for several events each year.

       1) Print and complete a MetroParks Activity Waiver and Health Acknowledgement and take it with you to turn in at the event.

    annual national meet in rugged terrain around West Point NY, organized by the U.S. Military Academy Orienteering Team.

    Queen City Adventure Running Series (QCARS) is a series of short summer orienteering events, featuring 2 short, fast, and fun courses more open park land and campus areas in Cincinnati City Parks and other nearby sites.

July 1-10 2022   Canadian Rockies Orienteering Festival, Alberta and British Columbia, Canada
       POSTPONED from 2020 Including Western Canadian Championships in Bragg Creek and Kananaskis, Alberta, and Canadian Orienteering Championships near Kimberley and Cranbrook BC. Also mid-week events July 5-6 near Blairmore Alberta, and Sass-Peepre Junior Camp for youth 11-20 on July 7-8 at Kimberley Nordic Centre, BC        CROF event website

July 7-17, 2022   World Games, Birmingham, Alabama, USA
    (postponed from July, 2021). Orienteering USA will host the orienteering portion of the 2021 World Games. Orienteering events will be July 15-17. national teams only, contact Orienteering USA National Team Selection Committee for details.
    Volunteers will be needed for many parts of the orienteering event including control setting and checking, control watching during the event, staffing an information table, site setup, and more. More information about the events and volunteering.

October 2022   South American Orienteering Championships, Foz do Iguacu, Brazil
    near spectacular Iguasu Falls near the Brazil / Argentina / Paraguay border. event website (Portuguese) Preliminary plans call for a Sprint/Middle/Long format in 3 countries, with the Sprint in Parguay, Middle in Brazil, and Long in Argentina.

January, 2023   Georgia Navigator Cup
    MLK weekend. Typically a middle distance race on Friday, two classic races on Sat and Sun, and Extreme-O on Monday.
   

Late March , 2023     OCIN Flying Pig XXV / 2023 Orienteering USA Nationals
    bid for 2023 OUSA Nationals (Middle, Long, Sprint) Separate individual awards for each race; US Champion medals to eligible finishers.
   

2023   World Masters Orienteering Championship, Slovakia
    POSTPONED from 2020 to 2023 open competiton for orienteers age 35 and over. pre-registration required. event website

August, 2023   California Orienteering Festival, USA
    North American Champs and World Rogaine Champs postponed to 2023.. Two week long festival of orienteering events, beginning in the Bay Area and ending in the Sierras near the Nevada border. includes the North American Championships and World Rogaining Championship.
