Orienteering Cincinnati Events

Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement. Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge. OCIN Events are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

May 19, 2019     Camp Libbey, Defiance, Ohio
    New map! This is a 600 acre girl scout camp on the south bank of the Maumee River, just east of Defiance. Starts will be open from 11 to 1. Cost is $10 members, $15 non-members ($2 discount if you bring your own SI card). $5 for youth age -20 or less.
    Special note: This is a girl scout camp (privately owned); no dogs please. Expect the trails and woods to be wet and muddy.

    Queen City Adventure Running Series (QCARS) is a series of short summer orienteering events, in Cincinnati City Parks and other nearby sites.
    See event listings for June 8 and 22; July 13 and 27; August 10 and 24. Pre-register online for a QCARS season pass! Season pass (6 events) is just $15 for OCIN members and $30 for non-members! Entry to individual QCARS events is $5 for members, $10 for non-members.
    OCIN will be introducing the SportIdent Air+ punching system at our QCARS events. You can still use your traditional SI card, but you SI Air+ allows faster, touch-free punching at each control. If desired, you may purchase an SI Air+ card or a traditional SI card with your season pass.

    OCIN's South Bend Chapter will offer a score style course (go in any order) on this unique map that spans the Indiana-Michigan border, with plenty of controls in both states. There will also be a cross country course with a twist for middle school students (the twist will be finding your way with easy navigation, not just following the marked route of a normal cross country course).

    OCIN's annual Halloween Orienteering Courses in cooperation with MetroParks of Butler County. There will be a full range of courses for all ages. Twilight courses, with starts from 5 until 7 pm. Courses close at 8 pm, control pickup begins at 8 pm.
    The Trail of Treats will be a short, easy course for kids, with a choice of candy or a toy at the finish. Trail of Treats course is $4 per child; regular OCIN fees ($10 members, $15 non-members) for other courses.
    MetroParks of Butler County Motor Vehicle Permit is required and will be available on site. Butler County residents may get a 2019-2020 permit free with proof of residency. Non-residents may buy a 2019 annual for $10 or a daily for $5. We use MetroParks of Butler County for several events each year.

    OCIN's South Bend chapter brings back the second year of the Twisted Run. Easy (white to yellow level difficulty) navigation (long and short versions) with a mass start. A few navigation decisions will give navigators the chance to outsmart the speedsters.

    An all-day training program geared mainly toward students participating in the TROL youth league, but open to everyone. There will be an alternating mix of indoor instruction and outdoor courses and training activities. Be prepared to be outside several times throughout the day. 8 am to 6 pm; Lunch sandwiches and dinner pizza are included. Pre-registration is required.
