Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement. Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge. OCIN Events are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

    Series of events in the Tucson and Phoenix areas, includes President's Day weekend. open to all, pre-registration required. event information and pre-registration.

Feb 23, 2020     OLOU Winter Sprint Series, Louisville, Kentucky
    Orienteering Louisville (OLOU). 2 short sprint-style courses at each event. See NEW   OLOU website for more details. Event fees $5 for beginner course, $10 for Chase (also includes beginner). This is a Chase start course, with the first start at 2:00. You must be pre-register, and be ready to start at your assigned time. There will also be a shorter course which is family and beginner-friendly.

April 3-5, 2020     OCIN Flying Pig XXIV / 2020 Orienteering USA Nationals
    2020 OUSA Nationals (Middle, Long, Sprint). Registration and Event Info Pages will open before Feb. 1.
    Events will be within a 20 mile radius of downtown Cincinnati. Format will be a Friday afternoon middle distance at Mt. Airy Forest, Saturday long distance at Miami Whitewater, and Sunday morning sprint at Northern Kentucky University. Separate individual awards for each race; US Champion medals to eligible finishers.
    Event Information has details on the various parks, races, lodging, social activities, and more. Online Pre-registration is now open.
    Embargoed terrain: (closed to all orienteering or visits to gain knowledge of the terrain). 1. Miami Whitewater Forest south of New Haven Rd (paved bike trail is ok, golf course is ok); 2. all portions of Mt Airy Forest south of I-74, including Green Twp Bicentennial Park; 3. Northern Kentucky University.
    Saturday evening dinner will feature Worldwalker Steven M. Newman, the first person to hike solo around the world. Steve and his wife regularly orienteer with OCIN as well!

Thursday, April 9, 2020     Line Hill Mound at Rentschler Forest, Hamilton, OH
    Starts from 5 pm until 7 pm, course closing at 8 pm, sunset at 8:11 pm. Full range of courses for all ages. This event will include a special egg hunt course for kids. Following an easy map, kids can collect a different color plastic egg at each checkpoint. When finishing, turn in the eggs for a choice of candy or toy from our treasure chest. Egg hunt course is $4 per child. For other courses, regular entry fee is $10 for members or $15 for non-members; $2 discount if you have your own SI card.
    MetroParks of Butler County Motor Vehicle Permit is required and will be available on site. Butler County residents may get a 2019-2020 permit free with proof of residency. Non-residents may buy a 2020 annual for $10 or a daily for $5. We use MetroParks of Butler County for several events each year.

    This event is restricted to scouts and will be held at Camp Friedlander. Many OCIN volunteers will be needed to help. We will have an intense weekend of orienteering activity for scouts, with an introductory get-together on Friday evening, skills sessions on Saturday morning, several courses open on Saturday afternoon, a night Score-O Saturday night, and the individual Scout-O Championships on Sunday morning.

    OCIN's annual Halloween Orienteering Courses in cooperation with MetroParks of Butler County. There will be a 90 minute Score-O course, suitable for all ages. You have 90 minutes to find as many controls as you can, in any order. Twilight courses, with starts from 4 until 7 pm. (Start by 6:30 if you want a full 90 minutes; we must close the course at 8 pm). Courses close at 8 pm, control pickup begins at 8 pm.
    We will also offer the Trail of Treats: a short, easy course for kids, with a choice of candy or a toy at the finish. Trail of Treats course is $4 per child; regular OCIN fees ($10 members, $15 non-members) for the Score-O course.

Sat, Nov 7 2020     Twisted Run III, Centennial Park, Plymouth, Indiana
    OCIN's South Bend chapter brings back the anual Twisted Run. Easy (white to yellow level difficulty) navigation (long and short versions) with a mass start. A few navigation decisions will give navigators the chance to outsmart the speedsters. Mass start at 11 am.
    pre-registration required, more details to come. This will be a fundraiser for the Orienteering USA Junior National Team, with all proceeds going to the national team.

    An all-day training program geared mainly toward students participating in the TROL youth league, but open to everyone. There will be an alternating mix of indoor instruction and outdoor courses and training activities. Be prepared to be outside several times throughout the day. 8 am to 6 pm; Lunch sandwiches and dinner pizza are included.

    OCIN New Year's meets: Join us for this annual tradition! Details to be announced. special note: Use the Timberhill entrance to Rentschler Metropark, see directions below.
    New Year's Eve Night Score Orienteering at Camp Timberhill, Hamilton, OH; starts are open from 6 pm until 10 pm. Score style course, go in any order, but return within the time limit or lose points. New Year's snacks, drinks, and games. NO alcohol.
    Limited overnight lodging is available in co-ed dormitory (privacy is limited), bunk beds, bring own bedding. Please contact Event Director Mike Minium if you are interested in staying overnight at the camp.
    Start the New Year off right. Join us for New Year's Day Orienteering - start times 11 am to 1 pm. White thru red courses. Event Fees: $10 members, $15 non-members, $2 discount if you have your own SportIdent card. Although this is not a TROL/WARS event, it is free for 2019-20 TROL Season pass holders.
    Park entry or vehicle permit fees: MetroParks of Butler County Motor Vehicle Permit is required and will be available on site.
