Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement. Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge. OCIN Events are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

    Archery season for deer begins on Sept 7 in Kentucky, Sept 28 in Ohio, and Oct 1 in Indiana. Please use caution in the woods during all hunting seasons. For more details, season dates, and links to official state websites, see our hunting information page

   Starts from 11 am to 2 pm. There will be 3 or 4 standard courses. Alley Park ahs some interesting cliff and rock formations, not found on typical central or southwest Ohio maps. Alley Park is off US Route 33 near Lancaster, Ohio, southeast of Columbus. After entering the park, drive past the lake and park at the lodge. Registration will be in the lower level nature center (go behind the lodge and down).

    OCIN New Year's meets: Join us for this annual tradition! Details to be announced. special note: Use the Timberhill entrance to Rentschler Metropark, see directions below.
    New Year's Eve Night Score Orienteering at Camp Timberhill, Hamilton, OH; starts are open from 6 pm until 10 pm. Score style course, go in any order, but return within the time limit or lose points. New Year's snacks, drinks, and games. NO alcohol.
    Limited overnight lodging is available in co-ed dormitory (privacy is limited), bunk beds, bring own bedding. Please contact Event Director Mike Minium if you are interested in staying overnight at the camp.
    Start the New Year off right. Join us for New Year's Day Orienteering - start times 11 am to 1 pm. White thru red courses. Event Fees: $10 members, $15 non-members, $2 discount if you have your own SportIdent card. Although this is not a TROL/WARS event, it is free for 2019-20 TROL Season pass holders.
    Park entry or vehicle permit fees: MetroParks of Butler County Motor Vehicle Permit is required and will be available on site. Butler County residents may get a 2020 permit free with proof of residency. Non-residents may buy a 2020 annual for $10 or a daily for $5. We use MetroParks of Butler County for several events each year.

    Orienteering Louisville (OLOU). 2 short sprint-style courses at each event. See NEW   OLOU website for more details. Event fees $5 for one or both courses. Starts are open on Sundays from 2:00 to 3:15, with control pickup beginning at 3:30. The shorter course is always family and beginner-friendly. The second is more challenging.

April 3-5, 2020     OCIN Flying Pig XXIV / 2020 Orienteering USA Nationals
    National events, details to be announced. 2020 OUSA Nationals (Middle, Long, Sprint)
    Events will be within a 20 mile radius of downtown Cincinnati. Format will be a Friday afternoon middle distance, Saturday long distance, and Sunday morning sprint. Separate individual awards for each race; US Champion medals to eligible finishers.
    Embargoed terrain: 1. Miami Whitewater Forest south of New Haven Rd (paved bike trail is ok, golf course is ok); 2. all portions of Mt Airy Forest south of I-74, including Green Twp Bicentennial Park; 3. Northern Kentucky University.

April 11, 2020     MetroParks of Butler County, location tba
    This event will include a special egg hunt course for kids. Following an easy map, kids can collect a different color plastic egg at each checkpoint. When finishing, turn in the eggs for a choice of candy or toy from our treasure chest. Egg hunt course is $4 per child.     This event is restricted to scouts and will be held at Camp Friedlander. Many OCIN volunteers will be needed to help. We will have an intense weekend of orienteering activity for scouts, with an introductory get-togetehr on Friday evening, skills sessions on Saturday morning, several courses open on Saturday afternoon, a night Score-O Saturday night, and the individual Scout-O Championships on Sunday morning.

Sat, Nov 7 2020     Twisted Run III, Centennial Park, Plymouth, Indiana
    OCIN's South Bend chapter brings back the anual Twisted Run. Easy (white to yellow level difficulty) navigation (long and short versions) with a mass start. A few navigation decisions will give navigators the chance to outsmart the speedsters. Mass start at 11 am.
