Public is welcome at all events, unless specifically noted in the announcement. Beginners are always welcome and basic instruction is offered at no charge. OCIN Events are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of severe storm or snow emergency, check this site on the morning of event.

September, 2023 thru March, 2024     OCIN TROL and WARS Season Pass
    Season passes give FREE entry to all league events from November 2023 thru March 2024, plus pre-season events in Sept and Oct.
    TROL (Tristate Regional Orienteering League) pass is for students in grade 12 and younger. Students (including home school) should purchase a TROL pass even if they plan to run adult level WARS courses. The TROL season pass includes a year of membership in OCIN and OUSA. Register now for your 2023-2024 TROL season pass (students in high school or younger)
    WARS (Winter Adventure Running Series) is for adults who are above high school age. Event rankings are based on age. You may also purchase or renew an OCIN annual membership with your WARS pass. Register now for your 2023-2024 WARS season pass (adults above HS age)
    When you register, if you have an Orienteering USA account, the registration system will auto-fill your personal information; if not, select "enter data manually".

Mar 9-10, 2024     TROL / WARS Series #16, General Butler State Park, Carrollton, KY
    TROL-WARS Season Finale and Awards on Saturday, Start times are 11 am to 1 pm; control pickup begins no later than 3 pm. Season awards, dinner, orienteering games on Saturday evening. Score style course on Sunday.
    A block of lodge rooms and cabins is available at General Butler State Park. The Group Code for booking lodging at General Butler for our season finale on 3/9-3/10 is 6823. You can call the park or use the group code to make a reservation online (click the "special rates" dropdown and select "group code"). Here's the link for online reservations

    FREE evening event with indoor and outdoor courses. Orienteering will be one of many fun hands-on STEM activities for all ages.

Sat, March 16, 2024     OLOU Scout O, Crooked Creek, Louisville KY
    organized by Orienteering Louisville (OLOU). Scout Orientering event. Volunteer help is needed. Volunteers with helping teach workshops to Scouts in the morning, with orienteering in the woods in the afternoon. Volunteers get to orienteer for FREE and receive a complimentary lunch for their help.
    Orienteering courses for the public run from 1:00 - 3:30 PM. Cost is $12 for members, and $15 for non-members. See OLOU website for more details and pre-registration

Saturday, Mar 30, 2024     Forest Run MetroPark
    Timberman Ridge Area, starts from 11 am until 1. Full range of courses for all ages. This event will include an egg hunt course for kids. Following an easy map, kids will find several checkpoints. When finishing, they will have a choice of candy or toy from our treasure chest. Egg hunt course is $4 per child. Kids will use a timing chip to record their visit to each checkpoint and/or collect plastic eggs at each point.
    Pre-registration for egg course is optional, but helps assure that we have enough maps, and prizes. opening soon $4 per child, family maximum of $10.
    Pre-registration for other courses is required by 9 pm Friday. $10 members, $15 non-members, free for 2023-24 TROL/WARS season pass holders.

April 5-8, 2024     OCIN Flying Pig XXVI
2024 Orienteering USA Master's Nationals
    Orienteering races Friday April 5 through Sunday April 7. Loveland and Oxford. Friday at Camp Friedlander. Saturday and Sunday at Hueston Woods State Park. Full range of courses each day from white through blue.
    preliminary event information. The Sat and Sun races are being planned to be in the path of total solar eclipse, which will occur on Monday afternoon, April 8. We have also arranged for an eclipse viewing area for orienteers only.
    All three races will also be the USA Team Trials for the Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) and World University Orienteering Championships (WUOC)

Monday (Memorial Day), May 27, 2024     Liberty Quest IV, Liberty, IN
    Urban Score-style course through the town of Liberty.   Find as many control points as you can in any order.   At each control point, you will find the answer to a history or trivia question to record on your score-card.   You get points for each correct answer.   But you will rapidly lose points if you go over the 2 hour time limit, so it is better to get back ON TIME even if you haven't found every point.
    Check-in opens at 8:30 am.   Mass start at 9:00.   (If you can't make it by 9, you can start later, but still need to finish by 11 to avoid losing points).

June to August, 2024     Cincinnati, Ohio
    Queen City Adventure Running Series (QCARS) is a series of short summer orienteering events, featuring 2 short, fast, and fun courses more open park land and campus areas. Season pass (includes all QCARS events, plus bonus events) is just $30 for OCIN members and $45 for non-members! Entry to individual QCARS events is $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Your best 3 QCARS events count for season awards.

    pre-registration required. Pan-Am Master's Games is open to orienteers age 35 and over. Volunteers are also needed. Orienteering races are July 13-16.

Aug 3-11, 2024     Canadian Orienteering Festival, Toronto-Ottawa, Ontario
    Week-long festival of orienteering events in Ontario and Quebec. First weekend is Canadian Championships north of Toronto, then events move east toward Kingston for mid-week events, then on to the west side of Ottawa for the North American Championships on the second weekend

    Orienteering courses will be offered for scouts as one of many outdoor activities at this large scouting event. Many OCIN volunteers are needed. Details coming in late summer.
